WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Cherokee Gives Back was established in 2000 with the help of Cherokee Investment Partners, a private equity investment firm in Raleigh, North Carolina focused on brownfield redevelopment and sustainable real estate investments. The charitable organization is meant to be a reflection of the belief that community involvement and public service are fundamental corporate tenets. Over time, Cherokee Gives Back has been involved with a wide variety of projects in the areas of health, blighted real estate, job creation, poverty relief, education, orphan care and adoption – in the United States and abroad.
The purpose of our Cherokee Leaders programs is to help sensitize leaders to global issues and encourage integrity and cultural empathy in their interactions with the world. We choose to work in one of Africa’s great cities, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, because of our deep relationships and because of how many of the great challenges to humanity collide there in remarkable ways.
